Total Vapour Management
Vapour Management Panel
Petroleum is a spirit based product that will release gas. Petroleum will vaporise to a pressure point relative to it's containment. A standard measurement of a petroleum vapour pressure is known as Reid Vapour Pressure (RVP).
An example is when a petrol can is opened a release of pressure is given off due to the vapour created within. The same thing occurs with fuel in any closed vessel so underground storage tanks are no exception.
The Concept of Total Vapour Management
The system collects vapour from the Stage 1b and Stage 2 systems distributing it to all the storage tanks. The pressure is controlled at a maximum pressure of approx. 40 mbars and the processor activates, on the rise in pressure, to process the vapour back to liquid.
Processing vapour created on the delivery and collected from Stage 2 can be very cost effective.
The vapour collected during the delivery can be quite substantial when processed and returned as product. This system also stops the vacuum effect when off-loading diesel so increases the amount of vapour in the tank farm for processing.
OPW Vaporsaver Processing Unit
The processing unit operates on a pressure switch and as soon as the pressure in the vapour system reaches 2 mbar the processor starts and any vapour is reprocessed to liquid which is returned to the tank.
